W O R K E X P E R I E N C E

I gained a Hertfordshire Careers Certificate for completing the work experience scheme.

During the week I worked with the teachers and the pupils and helped with a variety of classroom activities. This included working with less able pupils in developing their reading and writing skills. I also coached the school football team and organised training sessions.

Six hours a week working in food preparation and serving.

Worked in the EHS and Site Working Environment departments. During my time at GSK

reduce car flow onto the site, requiring me to present my idea's to department managers. I also researched Energy Saving idea's and helped to plan and run the staff Family Day.

I was also required to carry out other office work such as producing graphs from tables of data so that they could be presented. Other office work included filing, photocopying,

Throughout my School life I participated in a wide range of activities. These included representing the school at football, rugby, cricket, cross-country and athletics. I was presented with Senior School Colours for both Rugby and Football. For three seasons running I attended Hertfordshire County trials for rugby. Sporting commitments have enabled me to build up a wide range of skills including communication, teamwork and lead me to take part in an active lifestyle. By playing sport and being successful in many areas, my confidence has grown and I am more outgoing because of it.

Along with contributing to the school in the sporting aspect I also gave to the school during my years in the sixth form. I was elected as House Captain for Wallace House. This meant that I had responsibilities to help introduce new students into daily school life and also helped me to work with the House Master in organising the smooth running of house activities. Working as a house captain enabled me to mature as a student in the school and enabled me to take on the responsibility of looking after others and develop a sense of outside awareness and organisation.

Outside of school I also led a very active lifestyle, including playing for Datchworth Rugby Club. As part of the rugby clubs scheme to get more children into rugby I helped out with a small amount of coaching with the under 10’s. This coincided with the work experience I did in Year 10 when I spent a week in a primary school. I was given the responsibility of working in Physical Education classes and taking the school football practice.

Since joining Sheffield Hallam University I have joined the Volleyball team and train regularly at the EIS with Sheffield Men’s Volleyball club as part of the England development squad. My course has allowed me to study various areas of sport allowing me to build knowledge in sport nutrition, biomechanics and sports coaching. Sports coaching has greatly increased my communication skills and confidence.
